In 1995 we set out to build an low-cost GIS viewer. At the same time, Borland released Delphi, so we decided to build the software using these tools.

Our first client, who at the time was building a national mapping database, worked so closely with us that we ended building an SDK toolset, which became known as CartoVCL. We think that we were the first to have such tools worldwide, prompting us make these tools available at an affordable price to other developers.
